Cooling abilities
One of the most obvious places to start when comparing the two technologies is to take a look at the cooling functionalities of the devices. I don’t think that it takes a genius to answer this one – air conditioning units undoubtedly are better at cooling a room to a lower and more consistent temperature. HOWEVER, it does come with some side effects – many people who use air conditioning complain of the moisture/lack thereof in the air.
Cost
Now on the other hand, when comparing the costs of the two devices it is once again pretty clear who is going to win this battle – ceiling fans are much cheaper to purchase, to install and to maintain. Air conditioning can be very costly to install and to run, especially when used incorrectly at absurdly low temperatures.
Environmental Impact
When looking at how the products affect the environment, we once again have to give this round to the ceiling fans. Using hardly any power at all, ceiling fans are able to provide adequate cooling while having a minimal effect on mother earth.
At the end of the day, some buildings (such as offices) need air conditioning and other buildings (such as bedrooms) could get away with just using ceiling fans.
