What is Testing and Tagging?
Testing and Tagging is the process of testing and inspecting common electrical appliances and tools. This testing of electrical appliances is performed on a number of commercial and industrial properties, such as in hotels, cafes and industrial workshops. Every appliance that is tested is logged and recorded, enabling the owner to keep track of every single piece electrical device they own.
Why is it so important?
Testing and Tagging is such an important process as it fulfills every worker and every consumer’s basic right to be able to live and work in a safe environment. A business owner also finds this to be a crucial task to perform as it keeps track of their stock, ensures that their appliances are safe and reduces the risk of financial repercussions whether they are from a legal standpoint or from a fine following an OH&S inspection.
How does it work?
Testing and Tagging essentially involves a licensed inspector travelling to a property and performing a variety of tests on the devices to ensure that the device is up to standards. Once this has been passed, the device is fitted with a metal tag which records that testers name, the date of the test and the next required test date.
In today’s blog post, our team of commercial electricians at North Gold Coast Electrical have outlined the importance of conducting regular test and tagging.
